It was in November 2023 that I first heard the NOVUM DAC during a demo on a good but not extremely expensive installation. What immediately struck me about PCM encoded recordings was the tranquility in the reproduction of the music fragments, the naturalness of voices and the timbre of instruments. Curious about what the DAC would sound like in my home, I asked if I could listen to this DAC with my own choice of music on my above-average installation. In December the time had come and in the presence of the makers and a group of critical music enthusiasts we were able to hear an even clearer repetition of the sound impressions compared to November through the running gear of a Marantz SA 10 CD player. However, now with the addition of many micro details, brighter dynamics, more precise placement of instruments, more refined high reproduction, resulting in a more natural sound color for instruments and a beautiful spatial effect in the sound image (if recorded in the original recording). As if you weren't listening to music, but were there! After this event, I was able to try out all kinds of music myself for many hours, with the result that the NOVUM DAC will now be a permanent addition to my installation in the new year.
